ESPLAR - Research and Advisory Center is a non-profit Non-Governmental Organization (NGO), founded in 1974, which works in defense of Family Agriculture and Agroecology in the semi-arid region of Ceará.
Esplar exists to support social movements in the construction of a solidary development project, ecologically sustainable and resilient to climate change, with a focus on agroecologically based family farming, from the perspective of gender, race, ethnicity and generational equality.
Build, jointly, a solidary, ecologically sustainable development project that enforces rights, focusing on family farming, based on agroecology, gender equality, strengthening the autonomy of social movements, sovereignty and food and nutritional security and against discrimination based on race, ethnicity and generation.
Through a multidisciplinary technical team, we carry out activities aimed at Agroecology and Family Agriculture and advocacy with public authorities for the creation and strengthening of public policies. We prioritize themes that guide the development of agroecological systems; coexistence with the semi-arid region; environmental justice and quality of life; the strengthening of organizations of female and rural workers; the promotion of gender equality, with a feminist focus; and solidarity socioeconomics.
